About ForChange
ForChange Kelowna is a community-led, non-partisan initiative that reviews Kelowna City Council candidates on merit and publishes recommendations to help voters compare qualifications. It is not a political party and does not tell anyone how to vote.
Kelowna elects councillors at-large, which means voters often face a long list of names and limited time to research each one. ForChange offers a consistent review so residents can compare candidates on qualifications before marking their ballot in October 2026.
The committee focuses on councillor races where voters benefit most from a structured comparison across many candidates. Mayoral candidates are not part of this review.
Independence & motivation
ForChange is community-led and focused on qualifications, not a single sector or ideology. The committee welcomes strong leaders from any background who demonstrate readiness for municipal governance. Funding and process are disclosed publicly.
No. ForChange is not a political party and does not operate as a coordinated slate. The committee may recommend up to eight councillors based on merit, but voters decide how to mark their ballot.
The process
Yes. Sitting councillors are welcome in the review process and are evaluated on the same criteria as all other candidates. Recommending an incumbent is a normal outcome when qualifications warrant it.
Any candidate for Kelowna City Council can put their name forward by completing our public questionnaire. Every candidate answers the same questions, and responses may be published so voters can compare candidates fairly. Start the candidate questionnaire.
Some ideas trace back to the original Four Change movement over a decade ago. ForChange Kelowna is a new community-led initiative for the 2026 election, with its own committee, process, and funding.
The committee values integrity, accountability, collaborative decision-making, and a record of putting Kelowna’s interests first. Experience, governance understanding, and community involvement all factor into the assessment.
