For candidates
Participate in the review
Running for Kelowna City Council? Every candidate answers the same public questions before the interview stage. It is open, consistent, and the same for everyone.
01 / How it works
Open to every candidate
Same process, same questions, same respect. Sitting councillors and newcomers are equally welcome.
You do not need an invitation to take part. Completing this questionnaire is the first step toward being considered for a recommendation.
Your answers may be published so voters can compare candidates fairly. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to a one-on-one committee interview later in the cycle.
Recommendations reflect qualifications, not tenure or party affiliation.
02 / The questions
What we ask
These are the questions every participating candidate answers. We publish them openly so the process is transparent.
- Why are you running for Kelowna City Council?
- What do you believe are the three most important issues facing Kelowna over the next four years? For each: the issue, the specific actions you would take, and how City Council can actually influence the outcome. (Answered as three separate issues.)
- What experience, skills, and community involvement do you bring to the role?
- How will you approach council decisions when priorities compete for limited resources?
- How do you work with people who see an issue differently than you?
- What else should voters know about you?
